When the 3.1 Independence Movement took place in Korea 100 years ago, the Korean leaders such as Seo, Jae Pil and Rhee, Seung Man and over 150 Koreans held the First Korean Congress at the Little Theatre in Philadelphia and marched through the city to announce the legitimacy of Korean independence to the world. Although the 3.1 Independence Movement in Korea was difficult to sustain due to Japanese repression, in the United States it spread throughout the country for the next three years through the “Korea Review” and the “League of Friends of Korea” and became the foundation of Korea’s independence.
